This Vanilla & Tangerine Homemade Hair Wax is full of wonderful ingredients to nourish dry hair whilst giving gorgeous texture without weighing it down – plus it contains no toxic chemicals or nasty ingredients. Score!
Some of you may not know this, but I used to have platinum blond hair and a super short fringe! I’d been white blonde for over 6 years until about 9 months ago I decided it was time for a big change, so off I went to my hairdressers and asked to go back to my natural colour. Years of bleach and heat damage meant that my hair was in a bit of a sorry state so I decided to create this recipe for a texturising hair wax that would allow me to achieve that sought-after messy ‘bedhair’.
Shea butter and sweet almond oil restore shine and moisture whilst beeswax give texture and hold to your style, topped off with a delicious scent of vanilla and tangerine for irresistibly scrumptious locks! You can get creative with the scents and make up your own – but remember, essential oils are potent and it’s important you just stick to 4 drops for this recipe. I also love the combination of black pepper (2 drops), frankincense (1 drop) and sandalwood (1 drop) for a more spicy, woody scent!
Vanilla & Tangerine Homemade Hair Wax
This recipe makes about 50ml of product – I like to store it in a couple of 30ml cosmetics tins (from J M Cosmetic Packaging) then I can keep one in my handbag and one in my bathroom!
- 5g shea butter
- 15ml sweet almond oil
- 3/4 tsp beeswax
- 2 drops vanilla essential oil
- 1 drops tangerine essential oil
- 1 drops grapefruit essential oil
Melt the sweet almond oil, beeswax and shea butter in a glass jar sitting in a small pot of simmering water (not boiling) and stir gently until melted (be careful not to get any water into the mixture!). Once melted, mix in the essential oils and carefully transfer the mixture into a small glass jar or tin.
